The Corona Viruses Disease (COVID–19), one of the greatest challenges, threatening lives and livelihood, mankind ever experienced. India is in the grip of a “public health emergency”. Since inception of COVID–19 pandemic, diabetic patients have been considered as the most ‘vulnerable group’ prone to potential risk of COVID–19 and severely complicated outcomes.

A new wave of critical medical challenges in the form of Mucormycosis (“Black Fungus”), which has extremely high fatality rate. The “Black Fungus”, a deadly fungal infection, mainly affects COVID–19 infected persons with uncontrolled diabetes, comorbidities, or decreased immunity and it widespread rapidly in vital organs of the body. The health experts say, diabetes coupled with COVID19 is the foremost cause of rapid spike in ‘black fungus’ infections in our country.
