New Delhi, December 27, 2024:

Regular monitoring of your health is crucial for understanding how your body performs, particularly when it comes to factors like stress, sleep, or undergoing any physical training. Over a period of time, wearable technology, especially smartwatches, has become an important tool for tracking personal well-being, offering real-time data on important health metrics such as sleep quality, heart rate variability, step count, and calorie tracking. These insights help users recognize patterns in their health, enabling them to make informed decisions and adjust their routines to improve overall wellness.

Garmin, a leading brand in smartwatches, has released its 2024 Garmin Connect™ Data Report, offering valuable insights into global health and fitness trends based on user data. The report covers a wide range of metrics, from wellness factors like sleep quality and stress response to fitness data such as daily step counts, highlighting that 2024 has been another active year for Garmin’s global community.

One standout feature of Garmin smartwatches is Body Battery, which tracks users’ energy levels throughout the day, and helps its users optimize their routines by showing when they are at their peak and when they need rest, promoting better health and performance.

Body Battery Insights

  • Global Overview: Garmin users typically have their highest Body Battery levels in the morning, averaging 71, with the lowest point occurring in the evening, averaging 22. This results in an average daily Body Battery drain of 49.

  • Trends Through the Week: Energy levels are highest on Tuesdays, with a morning average of 74, while Saturdays show the lowest evening average of 20. The most energy is expended on Tuesdays (drain of 50), while Sundays see the least energy spent (drain of 47).

  • Trends Through the Year: The lowest Body Battery scores of the year occurred on January 1, likely due to post-celebration recovery. The highest daily Body Battery was on September 10, a Tuesday, with the highest energy expenditure recorded on August 27.

In India, the average peak Body Battery score of 68 suggests that individuals typically experience moderate energy throughout the day. The average trough score of 22 indicates significant energy dips, often during rest or after physical or mental exertion. The average daily drain of 46 reflects the depletion of energy, possibly due to daily activities, stress, or insufficient recovery. This highlights the need for better rest and recovery practices.

Sleep Insights

Garmin users globally recorded an average sleep score of 71 in 2024, categorized as Fair. Many users could benefit from improving their sleep habits. The best sleep scores are typically recorded on Monday nights, with an average score of 73, while Saturday nights into Sunday mornings show the lowest sleep quality, with a score of 68. The best night of sleep occurred on September 9, with a score of 74, while the worst sleep was recorded from December 31 to January 1, with a score of 58.

In India, the average sleep score of 66 indicates that many individuals are not achieving optimal sleep quality. Poor sleep can impact daily energy levels, mood, and performance. Factors such as sleep duration, consistency, and disturbances may contribute to the lower score, and improving sleep habits could enhance overall health, Body Battery levels, and performance.

Stress Insights

  • Global Overview: Garmin users recorded an average stress score of 30, categorized as low.

  • Trends Through the Week: Mondays are the least stressful days, with an average stress score of 29, while Saturdays tend to be the most stressful, with a score of 32.

  • Global Variations: Malaysia recorded the highest average stress score of 33, while South Korea had the lowest at 28.

In India, the average stress score of 31 is slightly above the global average but still within a healthy range. This suggests that many individuals experience moderate stress levels, which are manageable but could impact energy, sleep, and health if not addressed. Effective stress management strategies can help reduce its impact.

Daily Step Insights

Garmin users took an average of 8,317 steps per day globally. Hong Kong users recorded the highest step count at 10,340 steps, while Indonesia had the lowest at 5,375 steps. In India, the average daily step count of 6,963 indicates moderate physical activity, below the recommended 10,000 steps per day for optimal health. However, it shows that many people are incorporating some level of movement into their daily routines.

Training Readiness Insights

Garmin’s Training Readiness feature evaluates users’ preparedness for physical activity, factoring in recovery, activity, and stress levels. Globally, the average training readiness score was 60, reflecting moderate readiness for exercise. Scores were highest on Tuesdays (62) and lowest on Sundays (57). New Zealand had the highest average readiness at 64, while South Korea had the lowest at 51. In India, the average training readiness score was 54, indicating moderate preparedness for exercise, suggesting that individuals may need to focus on better recovery or stress management to optimize performance.

With more people using Garmin’s health-tracking tools, the insights gained are making it easier for users to lead healthier, more active lives by optimizing their routines based on real-time data.
