Launch of the GAPIO Clinical Knowledge Development Program

New Delhi, July 29, 2019:
Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) announced the launch of the GAPIO Clinical Knowledge Development Program on Sunday, 28th July 2019 at Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi.
GAPIO, a non-profit organisation was established to bring together 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform in 2011. Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder President of GAPIO and Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “this powerful workforce of physicians is a valuable resource as Indian doctors are globally recognised for their clinical acumen. GAPIO has representation from 34 countries and we hope to address issues of importance to physicians of Indian Origin across the globe.”
Mr. Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog said, that “the launch of the Clinical Knowledge Development Program which incorporates clinical training programs, webinars, videos and a mentorship program will be very beneficial for the development of clinical expertise in members of the Indian medical community especially younger members.”
“GAPIO had earlier launched a Leadership Development Program where in soft skills, time management, communication, team building skills were imparted across the country,” said Dr Ramesh Mehta, President, GAPIO. “This program will now been taken overseas,”he highlighted.
Dr Anupam Sibal, Vice President GAPIO and Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “The Apollo Clinical Knowledge Development aims at training young physicians to enhance clinical skills to become better clinicians. In the first phase, the program will be held at 12 locations – Delhi, Ahmedabad, Madurai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Vizag. Programs at these locations will be addressed by distinguished doctors who are members of GAPIO working at reputed institutions in India and overseas.”
“GAPIO has conducted soft skills enhancement workshops across India under the Leadership Development Program and now theClinical Knowledge Development Program will be a big attraction for doctors”, said Dr. Nandakumar Jairam, Secretary General GAPIO and Chairman of Columbia Asia Group of Hospitals.
In the first program, eminent oncologist from New York, Padma Shri Prof. Dattatreyudu Nori, Padma Shri Prof. Dattatreyudu Nori, International Director – Apollo Cancer Centres and Former Chief of Brachytherapy service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York, Former Chairman, Department of Radiation Oncology, New York-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Centre, New York, Former Director Cancer Centre, New York-Presbyterian Queens, USA,Dr. S K Wangnoo, Senior Consultant, Endocrinology, Apollo Hospitals Delhi and former Physician to the President of India, Dr. Sai Satish, Senior Consultant, Structural Cardiology, Apollo Hospitals Chennai and a pioneer in TAVI and MitraClip, and Dr. Sanjiv Jasuja, Senior Consultant, Nephrology and a thought leader in Transplant Nephrology provided newer insights in their respective fields.
