The Saras Aajeevika Mela kicked off  at Leisure Valley Ground in Sector-29, Gurugram on 26th October,2023, organized by the Union Ministry of Rural Development and the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR). It is showcasing the diversity of India. Saras Aajeevika mela completed its 25th Years.

More than 400 stalls from 28 states of the country have been set up at the fair. People of all ages are flocking to the fair. They are enjoying the diversity of the country here. The fair will be open daily from 11am to 9.30pm. There is no entry fee for the fair.

Over 800 women from SHGs are participating

More than 800 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are participating in the fair. They have brought their products and set up stalls here. Their handmade products also reflect the art and culture, they belong. These include clothes, jewellery, handicrafts, food products, sweets, etc. They are spreading the message of India’s diversity and unity in diversity.

The fair empowers women

The Saras Aajeevika Mela is being organized by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for more than two decades. This is 25th edition of the mela, which provides a platform to showcase rural arts and crafts products made by women self-help groups under various government scheme.

Products made by women SHGs from different parts of the country are the key feature of the fair. The fair empowers women by giving them chance to market their products and earn a living for themselves.

Savor dishes from across India

The mela celebrates Indian cuisine from 28 states. People are enjoying the taste of different dishes. Visitors can savor a wide variety of dishes, like baati chokha, dal baati churma, jalebi, chaat, momos, etc. South Indian food is also being serverd here.

Workshops for women

Daily workshops on a variety of topics are being organised for women of self help groups to develop their marketing skills. They will learn packaging, branding, preparing business proposals, using social media platforms to market their products, financial management, and many more.

Special arrangements for children

Cultural programs based on the culture of respective states are being organised. People of all age groups are enjoying these programs. Special arrangements have been done for children, where they can play and enjoy the moments. Several means are available for their entertainment in the fair.

People are also keen to know the recipe. At food stalls, they were seen expressing their desire to know the recipe. Entry and parking are free at the fair.
