Inaugurating the event were Shri CK Khanna, Acting President BCCI, Ms. Meenakshi Datta Ghosh IAS, Co-Chair HCFI Round Table on Health & Wellness Building Consensus; Shri Satish Upadhyay Former Chairman Education SDMC; Shri Bejon Misra, International Consumer Policy expert; Dr. Girish Tyagi, President, Delhi Medical Association; Ms. Richa Bharti, Consultant Media & Communications, Ministry of Health, GOI; Prof. Dr. Monica Chaudhry, Director, School of Health Sciences, Ansal University and Dr. Nisha Mendiratta, Associate Head, Splice, Department of Science and Technology (DST), GOI.
Supporting the event are leading brands including personal and fabric hygiene brand Fena, restaurant chain Imperfecto, educational institute Ansal University, personal hygiene brand Pee Safe, medical device company Agatsa, Coca Cola, LIC and other organizations.
The day began with Yoga for all age groups, a healthy way to begin the day. This was followed by the Youth Festival, which has always been a popular event among students. The Youth Fest, featured skit competitions, choreography competition and Rockband. The topic for skit was “Antibiotics and Harm reduction” and for the Rockband, it was “Caring for Mother Earth”, while the theme for the choreography was “substance abuse and harm reduction”.
Children in large numbers participated in the inter-school competitions “Harmony” and “Eco fest” on skit and singing. The theme for the skits was “Helmets and Harm reduction”. Painting, Poster making + slogan writing competitions were also held as part of Harmony & Eco Fest.
The highlight of the day was the Laughter Show epitomizing the age-old saying “Laughter is the best medicine”. The Laughter Show was organized along with Laughter Yoga International, where all participants gathered to laugh together. Laughter is at the level of heart; it’s very commonly said, “Dil khol ke haanso.” About 20 minutes of laughter is equivalent to 7 hours of deep sleep.
A special science show was held in the evening “Science behind Miracles”. The objective of this program is to remove superstitions prevalent in the society. People should realize their potential and try to understand how things that we see as miracles are done. Every activity has some science behind it. Remember, yesterday’s miracles are today’s science and today’s miracles are tomorrow’s science.
A survey on Happiness Index is being conducted over the three days of the event in addition to the regular competitions. The Mela timings are 8 am to 10 pm. Entry to the Mela is free for all. Come, be a part of the Mela……….
