New Delhi, August 20, 2022:
In a development signifying growing commercial-technological ties between India and the UK, Thieme India, a leading medical publishing company signed a partnership agreement with UK’s EIDO Healthcare, a specialist in digital consent solutions. Importantly, the signing of the partnership agreement was carried out in the presence of officials from the Department for International Trade, Permanent Secretary James Bowler and Deputy Trade Commissioner Anna Shotbolt.
Thieme India is the Indian affiliate of Thieme group, an over 125 years-old award-winning global medical and science publisher. On the other hand, UK’s EIDO Healthcare has been a pioneer and leader in medico-legal informed consent solutions for over 20 years.
The Department of International Trade took to Twitter to congratulate by stating “Congratulations to EIDOhealthcare and ThiemeIndia on their partnership to introduce an innovative digital solution, bridging the existing gap in patient consent & awareness. Partnerships like these will further strengthen healthcare trade & investment opportunities in the UK.”
International Trade Minister Ranil Jayawardena said:
“Britain and India are healthcare and technology powerhouses. Partnerships like EIDO Healthcare and Thieme India show how collaboration between our two nations can improve the delivery of vital health services in India.
We are seeking to double Anglo-Indian trade over the next decade and a free trade deal will be a significant step towards achieving that, tackling trade barriers and helping businesses in both countries to seize new opportunities.”
“We are indeed delighted to have forged this valuable partnership with EIDO Healthcare. This also demonstrates the power of collaboration and synergy that exists between UK and India in terms of technology sharing and capacity building, apart from regular trade and investment exchanges,” said Ajit Kohli, Managing Director & CEO, Thieme India.
“With this agreement, we would now be able to bring the most advanced and yet easy-to-use digital consent solutions to patients and the healthcare facilities in India. With Covid-19 precipitating an all-round pivot to digitalization of healthcare in the country, a shift to digital consent solutions from the traditional paper-based consent is a natural course of development. We need to capitalize on this ongoing momentum. Given the ever-increasing cases of doctor-patient scuffles and incidents and the relative lack of awareness about digital consent solutions among healthcare facilities and patients in India, this would help in addressing that gap,” said, Dr NitendraSesodia, Senior Director, Medical Communications & Corporate Sales, Thieme India.
