New Delhi, June 14, 2022:

Unless we change the way in which we communicate, we will not be effective communicators, said Richa Jain Kalra in a talk hosted by Public Relations Society Delhi, adding, “We should not tell the audience but connect with them. Sending press releases once in a while does not help; but a constant engagement with the stakeholders will”

Richa was a lead anchor at NDTV for more than 15 years. She spoke extensively on the topic “Effective Communication in Digital Age” which was recently held at Tagore Chamber, SCOPE Complex, New Delhi.

While speaking about authenticity in communication, she said, “It’s something that resonates with the young audience and today’s digital consumers. Today’s generation is not interested in actors and celebrities but real heroes”

She put emphasis on purpose driven communication for higher impact. She said, purpose always gives us rewards.

Encouraging the students and PR professionals to be innovative in their communication, she said, creativity and innovation would certainly bring laurels to an individual and an organization.

Offering insights into certain new patterns of consumption amongst the young audience, she said, As we are going digital, the pattern of our consumption is changing and now videos are the most sought-after form of communication; this is the reason companies are roping in influencers to social media to attract consumers. It is very important to have targeted communication with youngsters as they are not interested in what your company does but they are interested in what is there for them in your communication.”

Talking about the significance of ‘relevance’ in communication, she added, how can you be relevant to the consumer is the key to unlocking the digital communication.”

Around 70 students from premier media colleges such as IIMC, JIMS, AAFT, KMC & Amity University attended the program. The event saw huge participation of PR professionals from  various PSUs, advertising & marketing firms, and academicians.
