This is not done, it’s like sheltering terrorists Eradicated polio strain found in vaccines made in India. Polio virus type 2, a strain that has been eradicated in almost all countries, including in India, has been found in some batches of oral polio vaccine (OPV) manufactured by Biomed. Though the health ministry and the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) have initiated preventive measures to keep a check on the impact, the contamination has the possibility of bringing polio back to India.
Manufacturing, distribution and use of type 2 strain was stopped after global eradication of the virus. The Ghaziabad-based manufacturing company was supplying polio vaccines for only government-run immunisation programme and not for private retail. The contamination was first suspected when investigation reports from UP showed signs of the virus in stool samples of some children. Samples of OPV vaccines were sent for testing. Test reports confirmed that some batches were contaminated with type 2 virus. An investigation has been ordered by the government to find out how the type 2 strain was recollected by Biomed even after the DCGI had ordered all manufacturers in the country to take necessary measures for complete knock down of all trails of polio type 2 virus by 25 April, 2016.
The 25th Perfect Health Mela 2018 will explore some of these concepts during the cultural conclaves and programmes. Celebrating its silver jubilee this year, the Mela will be held from 23rd to 27th October at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
Actress Kajol, who is gearing up for the release of her forthcoming film ‘Helicopter Eela,’ says at least one member in each family needs to be CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) trained so that one could save a life from a sudden cardiac arrest. Kajol was addressing the media at the launch of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Initiative (SCAAI) on Saturday in Mumbai.
Ayushman Bharat and Delhi: Hospitals in Delhi can still be empanelled under the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) to offer portability to the poorest 40 percent Indians who are entitled to health benefits under the scheme.
National Health Agency (NHA), the nodal body for implementation of AB-NHPM, is devising a method through which people who are entitled to avail hospitalisation services under the scheme are not deprived of them in the capital city.
Delhi has many people from the neighbouring states. All the neighbouring states are part of the scheme. If Delhi hospitals are empanelled under the scheme, the people who are eligible to get benefits under it will not have to travel all the way back to their states to get treatment. They will be able to get services in the empanelled Delhi hospitals as well.
Either NHA can start empanelling hospitals in Delhi or any of the neighbouring states can empanel Delhi hospitals to offer portability.
On first offence, five-times the package cost will be recovered from the hospitals. For the second offence, the hospitals will be suspended from the scheme for six months. Third offence would invite blacklisting. And for the fourth offense, IPC and CrPc provisions will be applied on the hospitals.
