New Delhi, September 30, 2021:

Taking note of the fact that the lifestyle disorder has increased the burden of heart-related ailments not only in the national capital but also worldwide, leading tertiary care hospital chain Ujala Cygnus Group of Healthcare today conducted a ‘Walkathon, an extra mile for healthy heart’ along with various awareness drives to promote active lifestyle in order to combat the disease on the occasion of World Heart Day.

People have limited knowledge and awareness about hypertension, which is the biggest cause of chronic heart disease in India, and the mismanagement of the hypertension further leads to heart failure. Heart failure is a chronic, progressive condition in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs for blood and oxygen. Basically, the heart can’t keep up with its workload.

Speaking on this, Mr Probal Ghosal, Chairman, Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services mentions “Along with focusing on quality medical care for tier2/tier3 markets, our objective at Ujala Cygnus is also to generate awareness and explain the community the risk factors for development of chronic lifestyle diseases specially heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity, pulmonary problem etc which are becoming an area of concern in small towns. Therefore, today’s various awareness drives across our footprint was one such initiative as a part of the overall objective and going forward, we shall be looking at driving more such causes to ensure enhancement in quality of living for people residing in these small towns”

The walkathon was flagged off across majority of the centers where it encouraged people to walk few miles for making the heart healthy along with getting a basic health check-up camp organized for all participants . Around  800-900 enthusiasts including the management staff got together for the walkathon across the markets. The event was aligned with the Fit India Campaign promoted by honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to promote overall health in India.

“There is a shift towards non-communicable disease that includes heart diseases as the major five NCDs (Cancer, heart, brain, kidney and lung). In India, the number of patients suffering from heart ailments has doubled in the last 15 years. Therefore the time has come, to eat healthy and walk a mile to manage these chronic disorders. One should avoid oily or heavy food and spare an hour from your day for any physical movement like exercise, yoga or just walk. We are glad to see such a wonderful response from the initiative taken by our group. We will surely organize more such events in future in order to raise awareness among the masses,” said Dr Pramod Joshi, Cardiologist at Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals.

Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals have been serving the general masses from tier2/Tier3 cities of Haryana, Punjab, UP and Delhi region and have well-qualified Cardiologists on the panel.
